M&T Bank Investor Reporting Accounting Associate III in Buffalo, New York

Overview:

Completes a variety of non-routine clerical accounting duties and prepares complex investor reports and remittances or investor, Bank and/or general ledger reconciliations in compliance with investor guidelines or Bank policies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete timely and accurate reporting or reconciliation of mortgage portfolio activity to various private and/or agency investors to mitigate financial and reputational risks in accordance with investor servicing agreements and guidelines.

  • Gather and research data to prepare routine and non-routine investor accounting reports including daily, weekly and/or monthly departmental reporting assignments, remittances or Bank reconciliations.

  • Complete problem resolution on more complex issues and assist in determining their solution.

  • Complete research to resolve highly complex reconciliation reporting discrepancies as needed.

  • Communicate with internal cross-functional areas, business partners and investors to resolve highly complex inquiries and/or issues and make recommendations for procedural changes if necessary.

  • Assist in developing processes associated with new business initiatives under Group Leader or management direction.

  • Provide input regarding operational effects of procedural and/or investor requirement changes.

  • Adhere to established policies, procedures and limits focusing on observable breaches in Corporate Risk policies.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

The jobholder works independently under general supervision as well as a member of a project team. The position evaluates processes and controls to mitigate risks and ensure efficiencies. This position has interaction with internal Bank partners as well as third party investors, with the support of the Group Leader on more complex issues.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree,

OR in lieu of a degree,

A combined minimum of 4 years’ higher education and/or work experience

Effective communication skills

Prior experience working under critical time constraints

Detail-oriented

Good organizational skills

Strong math skills

Strong analytical skills

Knowledge of pertinent software products, including spreadsheet software

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA (Master’s degree in Business Administration)

Knowledge of the Bank’s servicing system

Minimum of 5 years’ investor reporting experience

Ability to engage and lead team members
