Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Supervisor, Distribution Line Worker you will provide support for the supervision of a team of distribution line workers, ensuring the safe and reliable maintenance and construction of distribution system infrastructure. In this highly dynamic role, you will provide both administrative support in the office and hands-on support to the crews in the field. You will begin with a 12-month rotation through the various functions of the Electric Operations group (Overhead Line, Underground Line, Substations, Protection) which will provide you with a strong foundation to lead your team!

This is an on-site role based in Buffalo, NY. With travel required to different National Grid work sites within the area. Due to the travel associated with this position, you will be provided a company vehicle.

What You'll Do

As an Associate Supervisor Distribution Line Worker, you have the important task of providing the support to keep the lights on for members of your own community especially in times of electrical emergency.

In this role you will:

  • Supervise a culturally diverse workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner.
  • Oversee the operational workload of team to ensure allocated resources are fully utilized to deliver against agreed upon work plan and execute work activities within planned unit and budget cost.
  • Ensure supervised teams comply with safety standards, policies and processes in order to ensure a safe working environment and minimize risk for all staff.
  • Execute all work tasks in compliance with all Company, Federal and State policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for multiple internal stakeholders and outside agencies to provide support and ensure National Grid deliver against service level agreement.
  • Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related fieldfrom an accredited institution

  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025

  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025

  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy

  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

It would be awesome if you had

  • Prior Supervisory or leadership experience.

Salary Range
Buffalo, NY $72,250 - $93,500 a year


Please note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. As a National Grid employee, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
