Summary:
Assist the Point of Care Manager with the implementation of the Point of Care Testing (POCT) program that encompasses all procedures and activities of waived and moderately complex testing. Participates in training non-laboratory associates to ensure that staff are familiar with the analytical procedures, maintenance and troubleshooting of POCT equipment. Assist with the distribution of proficiency materials and the collection of data required by regulatory agencies. Assists with inventory management and dispatch of consumables for POCT. Performs general office duties associated with POCT activities. Participates when called upon, in JCAHO and NYSDOH surveys. Works with new hires and students as required.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
B.S. degree in Medical Technology or related discipline required
Must have valid NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist Limited Permit or full NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license reflected within the NYS office Of Professions prior to starting
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated ability to establish work load priorities and handle several tasks for maximum work efficiency
Preferred one (1) year experience with training associates, expediting and implementation of new procedures and evaluating quality control/assurance protocols
Preferred knowledge of waived testing requirements and regulations
Clinical rotation from an accredited school, in a hospital setting
Six (6) years clinical laboratory work experience if acting as a Charge Technologist
