Labcorp Biopharma Specimen Accessioner in Buffalo, New York

BioPharma Services (BPS) Laboratory Assistant

OmniSeq by Labcorp is looking for a Biopharma (BPS) Specimen Accessioner to join our team in Buffalo, NY. The BPS Specimen Accessioner receives Biopharma and research testing material in the laboratory; accessions and routes testing material to appropriate areas; requests samples from laboratories and performs timely follow up; tracks materials sent to and received from referral laboratories; assists with quality assurance activities; inventory management.

Primary Duties

Receives and accessions Biopharma laboratory testing material within various laboratory information management system(s) utilizing appropriate blood/body fluid precautions

Stores biopharma laboratory samples maintaining the integrity of the physical/electronic inventory

Packages Biopharma material for delivery/return to referral testing laboratories in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements

Destroys Biopharma specimens for in accordance with regulatory and HIPAA requirements while completing the required documentation

Maintains files and stores relevant laboratory documentation in accordance with regulatory standards for required storage periods.

Assures traceability of samples whether the study is for a clinical trial or batch research only testing.

Provides details for Biopharma samples to the Order Entry and Clinical Operations team to ensure timely completion of testing per the individual Statements of Work

Maintains files and stores relevant laboratory documentation in accordance with regulatory standards for required storage periods.

Keeps lab notebook up to date with project specific data entry requirements

Proactively monitors new and/or existing projects and communicates with management as needed

Participates in laboratory quality assurance activities

Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.

Acts as on the job trainer for all aspects of this position for both new staff and competency

Instills a culture of continuous improvement, quality and productivity and leads

Performs pre-analytical sample analysis

Attends meetings as required

Flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned or requested

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

Associates degree in healthcare discipline; preferred candidate will have Associate’s degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology; or

High school diploma or G.E.D. and current enrollment in an approved BS program in Clinical Laboratory Technology; or

High school diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring the use of medical/laboratory terminology

Skills

Demonstrated excellence in task management and cross-functional collaboration

Excellent communication skills

Competency in Microsoft applications

Hourly rate: $21-25
