Aston Carter Payroll Specialist in Buellton, California

Job Description:

  • Reviews payroll information submitted by departments for accuracy prior to processing the final payroll.

  • Administers accurate computation of payroll. Reviews payroll and related information.

  • Enters information for new hires, termed Team Members, leave of absences, suspensions, rate changes, and transfers.

  • Creates Team Member files for all new hires and prepares the information to be transmitted to an outside payroll processing company (ADP).

  • Assists Team Members with paycheck discrepancies.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining various payroll reports, including but not limited to Overtime Report, Accrual for Sick and Vacation Reports, and Unused Deduction Reports.

  • Accumulates and reviews information reported to government agencies. Provides accurate reporting to federal and state agencies.

  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, State, Federal, and NIGC regulations as they pertain to payroll records and processing.

  • Processes deductions for garnishments, levies, etc.

  • Coordinates payroll with an outside payroll provider (ADP). Electronically transfers payroll for payroll check runs. Downloads payroll information back from payroll processing company and utilizes exported information to generate reports in Microsoft Excel.

  • Verifies time stamps for accuracy and ensures there are no missed punches.

  • Verifies available sick and vacation for cash outs and FMLA.

  • Audits Team Member files.

  • Ensures and maintains the security and confidentiality of all payroll and personnel records.

  • Processes and updates direct deposit information.

  • Ensures accuracy of the information provided on the forms such as effective dates and retro dates.

  • Communicates any problems and/or concerns to the Payroll Supervisor or Payroll Manager.

  • Assists Payroll Manager on special projects.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have ADP experience

  • Need to have bi-weekly payroll experience

  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent accounting or payroll experience preferred.

  • Three years of experience in payroll accounting and systems in a similarly situated organization.

  • Ability to work and utilize formulas to generate requested information and reports within Microsoft Excel.

  • Basic knowledge of business and accounting systems and methods.

  • Basic knowledge of applicable regulations, rules, procedures, and administration is required.

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and related applications such as email Excel, Teams and cloud based applications.

  • Proficient with use of a10-key, computer and other office equipment.

  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
