GE Healthcare Lead Specialist 1 Operational EHS - Fixed Facilities_HC in Budapest, Hungary

Job Description Summary

As an EHS Specialist you will have responsibility for developing and supporting the execution of programs for GEHC's services operations at customer sites, supporting the front line services teams with expertise & problem solving, and for leading execution of contract pre-approval EHS qualifications under the direction of the EE Regional EHS Leader and local in-country Services Manager.

The primary focus is to assess and eliminate risks both in office and Customer site environments, conduct site visits, analyze and maintain EHS recordkeeping systems, conduct EHS employee site training, and participate in EHS program activities to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance in addition to driving injury reduction initiatives.

Job Description

Key responsibilities/essential functions include

  • Evaluate customer site and facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective and preventive action plans.

  • Assess, monitor, and assure regulatory and company compliance and make sure to trigger necessary changes in a timely manner.

  • Maintain all required records and documentation, including licenses, or permits to ensure compliance with site licensing requirements. Assist/drive certain assigned aspects (technical, regulatory/third party interface, reporting, permitting, compliance, financial, administrative, etc.) of GE HealthCare projects and permits in compliance with relevant regulatory programs and GE business policies.

  • Track site progress and needs. Keep contact with management to provide regular status alerts of compliance, projects progress and needs.

  • Provide EHS guidance and compliance support to Sales and Service Teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and program requirements.

  • Actively participate in EHS risk reduction and compliance programs both on country and Eastern European level.

  • Supply, operate, and maintain personal protective equipment and ensure availability of safety supplies and PPE equipment.

  • Verify that safety equipment such as dosimetry and PPE are available to employees and monitor their use to ensure proper fit and use, evaluate dosimetry data, drive investigation in case of exceedances.

  • Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.

  • Collect data within the organization and submit environmental reports. Coordinate required collective schemes (waste management).

  • Understand key business drivers; use this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area is required.

  • Resolve issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures, involve technical experts as needed.

  • Check fulfilment of office safety requirements and assess ergonomics compliance of workstation. Support employees to properly set up their workstations both in the office and at home (based on requests).

  • Keep contact with Landlord at our locations and verify compliance to all EHS areas impacting any GEHC employees including emergency situations. Advice on corrective and preventive measures if needed, track them to closure.

Required Qualifications

  • Equivalent to BSc in Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health OR related technical discipline AND minimum 2 years’ experience in EHS Activities (fixed facility, distributed workforce or projects)

  • Knowledge of local EHS regulations in Hungary

  • Proven project and program management skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills in local language and in English.

  • Ability to travel within Hungary and abroad if needed for business purposes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information

  • Having Environmental and Fire safety qualification and professional certifications (e.g., ISO auditor) is a plus
