As the Principal Site Engineering Manager, you will be the leader for the Compute Platform engineering teams in Romania. The Compute Platform teams in Romania are growing rapidly and are defining a broad set of Core Compute technologies and customer problem spaces. The Romania engineering teams own features and fundamentals in Virtual Machines, Scale Sets, Serverless Containers, Capacity Management and Service Quality. The Romania teams are aligned with and work very closely with the parent teams in United States (US) locations. The role of the Site Engineering leader is to provide management support to the Individual Contributors (ICs) and first level managers (M1s) in Romania, build close relationships with the Compute Platform engineering leaders in US and other locations, and deliver excellent customer results through a one global team effort. The Compute Platform team is dynamic, fast paced, and customer obsessed. The Romania Site Engineering leader will be a member of the Compute Platform Leadership Team and help set the direction for the global team.

Responsibilities
Hires new team members in Romania, mentors, and on boards them to be effective in their job functions.
Fosters a culture of growth mindset, technical excellence, and customer obsession in all team members.
Manages the Individual Contributors (ICs) and first level managers (M1s) in Romania team helping them work effectively with teams in other time zones.
Helps the Romania teams build close partnerships with the US based team leads and team members.
Guides the Romania teams to be great at Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) effectiveness, delivering a follow the sun live site support model.
Aligns the Romania teams to integrate with semester planning, execution, and delivery.
As a member of Compute Platform Leadership Team, provides perspectives and suggestions on improving the collaboration of the teams separated by time zones.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline
Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
People management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in building and operating large scale services and distributes systems.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
