About the RoleSierra Space is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Systems Engineering Intern to join our dynamic team. The intern will support various projects and initiatives related to the development and integration of aerospace systems. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in systems engineering and work alongside experienced professionals on cutting-edge technologies and missions. Our Interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study. Summer internships are typically 10-12 weeks starting in late May/early June and work an average of 40 hours a week. Depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria during your internship, you may be considered for a full-time position upon graduation. As a Technical Intern, you'll ask questions, get involved, bring your ideas, be part of an actual project team, attend planning meetings, complete assignments as tasked by your team, absorb and learn from your team and apply that learning to projects assig

You'll have the opportunity to learn fundamental business processes and procedures, build your technical foundation through practice and mentorship, and participate in an in-depth program built by our University Recruiting team, that includes cross-functional workshops and meeting with leadership to gain understanding of the business and Sierra Space culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Note: Specific responsibilities will vary based on specific program assignment, but in general, the systems engineering interns will be responsible for:

Assisting in the analysis of system requirements and specifications to ensure they meet project goals

Supporting the development and maintenance of system documentation, including requirements, system architecture, analysis, and test plans.

Utilizing modeling and simulation tools to analyze system performance and behavior to meet program requirements and capabilities

Supporting integration of system components to define and mature system interfaces

Participating in testing activities to verify and validate system requirementsand alsoassisting in troubleshooting any issues that arise

Working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, test, and SW engineers, and program management teams, to facilitate communication and collaboration

Conducting and supporting research on new technologies or methodologies to improve system performance and development processes

Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to the team

Engaging in training sessions to understand systems engineering principles and best practices
