BAE Systems Assistant Controller, SMS (Manager III - Accounting) in Broomfield, Colorado

What You ll Do:

  • This position will report directly to the BAE Space and Mission Systems Controller.

  • Lead the Financial Accounting, Reporting, and Tax organization including oversight of the Financial Statement Close and Consolidation, Technical Accounting, Fixed & Assets and Lease Accounting, and applicable tax analysis and filing.

  • Recruit, develop, train, and mentor top Financial Accounting & Tax talent.

  • Ensure BAE Space and Mission Systems Financial Accounting practices are compliant with IFRS and BAE Inc. / BAE PLC policies.

  • Act as a primary BAE Space and Missions Systems Inc liaison with BAE Inc for Financial Accounting, Reporting and Tax matters.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statement close process and reporting of monthly financial results to SMS management and other stakeholders.

  • Lead quarterly financial pre-close process including updates, as appropriate of provisions and other significant accounting estimates.

  • Work closely the with Government Accounting team to ensure accounting practices are in alignment with USG Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).

  • Provide leadership support for internal and external audits of BAE Space and Mission Systems Financial Statements, tax filings, and internal controls.

  • Work Closely with the Director of Financial Operations and Business Systems manager to ensure reliability of Financial Accounting systems and tools.

  • Drive and/or support process changes and improvements as well as implementation of new tools and technologies.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with all Finance Organizations to identify and resolve cross-functional issues.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Strategic Business Unit and Sector leadership in areas such as financial analysis, risk identification and mitigation and advising leadership, as required, on the potential accounting impacts of proposed transactions.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with BAE Inc Accounting & Tax leadership and support Inc.-wide initiatives as directed.

  • Participate in industry trade groups and professional associations such as the Aerospace Industrial Association (AIA) Controller s Committee and AICPA.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor s degree in related field plus 12 or more years related experience.

  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Advanced degree.

  • Degree in accounting.

  • CPA, CMA or other relevant certification.

  • Knowledge of government regulations and public law such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). Understanding of the financial interrelationships between these regulations and IFRS financial reporting.

  • Advanced knowledge of Costpoint.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $135556 - $230444

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
