Nilfisk, Inc. Software Engineering Intern in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as an Intern Autonomous Robotics Software Developer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (V-SLAM), object detection, indoor mapping, and computer vision, using Ubuntu and Nvidia Jetson platforms. This internship is ideal for individuals with academic or student project experience who are eager to gain practical experience in the field of autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence. Key Responsibilities: Software Development: Design, develop, and implement software solutions for autonomous robotics applications, with a focus on V-SLAM, object detection, indoor mapping, and computer vision. Algorithm Implementation: Implement and optimize algorithms related to robotics perception and navigation, ensuring high efficiency and reliability. Platform Integration: Work with Nvidia Jetson and Ubuntu-based platforms to ensure seamless integration of software solutions into the hardware. Object Detection: Develop AI features for object detection and recognition within the robotic environment, enabling enhanced perception and decision-making capabilities. Indoor Mapping: Create and maintain mapping solutions that enable autonomous robots to navigate indoor environments accurately and efficiently. Computer Vision Applications: Develop computer vision-based applications to enhance the robot's understanding of its surroundings and enable advanced functionalities. Independent Work: Be able to work independently, manage project tasks, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities, while collaborating effectively with the team. Documentation: Prepare clear and concise documentation for software solutions, algorithms, and development processes. Qualifications: Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field. Recent graduates or candidates with equivalent project experience are also welcome to apply. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++. Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux and Nvidia Jetson platforms. Understanding of computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence concepts. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for robotics and autonomous systems. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Prior experience with V-SLAM, object detection, and indoor mapping is a plus but not required. This is an internship position, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time role based on performance and company needs.
