Job Description

The Lead Assembler is responsible for leading a product line(s) to successfully meet and exceed quality and efficiency targets. As a key team member, the Lead Assembler will assist the Production Supervisor in scheduling and providing work direction to Assemblers. In addition, the Lead Assembler ensures that all employees are trained and certified on all operations, tool and equipment use, proper documentation, manufacturing processes, and company procedures related to the job performed.

Job Duties

  • Assembled, inspect, and test medical devices accordingly to manufacturing process as needed.

  • Coordinate the daily work schedule with the production supervisor.

  • Communicate workload schedules and work direction to Assemblers and answer questions as needed.

  • Ensure less experienced Assemblers perform work accordingly to Quality System Procedures, System Operating Procedures, and Manufacturing Processes.

  • Answers questions related to job standards; Quality System Procedures, System Operating Procedures, and Manufacturing Process

  • Accurately complete and maintain written records of manufacturing operations on production documentation. Monitor Metrics data to ensure correct data is documented by team members in assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Ensure Assemblers daily targets and output are met and communicate issues to assigned supervisor.

  • Escalate performance management issues/problems to assigned supervisor.

  • Cross train as required by assigned supervisor.

  • Conduct time studies of product line operations. Utilized time studies data to update Work Content Tool (WCT) and standard work to improve line balance and efficiency.

  • Responsible for ensuring safety and environmental practices are followed in assigned areas of responsibility. e.g. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ergonomics, job rotation, stretching exercises and preventive maintenance.

  • Drive, audit and support continuous improvement projects and work with manufacturing engineers to implement new processes.

  • Drive and audit the 5S, Lean and Toyota Production System (PTS) implementation and activity for assigned areas of responsibility.

  • All Other Essential Duties as directed.

  • Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.):

  • Monday -Thursday, 10 hours per day.

  • Working overtime on Fridays and work on weekends on occasion as required by the business.

  • Work in a clean room.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Assembler.

  • Internal Assemblers may advance based on management’s discretion and demonstrated job performance.

  • Must have detailed knowledge of Olympus products, processes, and Assembler skill sets.

Preferred:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence and effectively present information to employees, supervisors, or engineers.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Strong analytical team building and motivational skills to effectively interact with colleagues.

  • Must be self-directed and able to carry out multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.

  • Competent with Microsoft office tools, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and site specific PC programs as required to perform job duties.

  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices, Good Manufacturing Processes, and Lean Manufacturing.

  • Must be capable of operating manufacturing equipment including microscopes, test equipment, EFDs, ultrasonic welders, and soldering irons.

  • Competent operating measurement equipment e.g. dial calipers, pressure gages, and rulers.

  • Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $25.79 - $33.52 / hour, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position, including level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
