Job Description
Targeted Hourly Pay Range: Minimum of $40.00 to a maximum of $60.36

POSITION PURPOSE: The Instrumentation & Controls Engineer (I&C Eng.) will report to the Plant Manager and will support the Chief Engineer and plant operations by maintenance and repair of all electrical systems, instrumentation and controls and equipment. The I&C Eng. will perform skilled work requiring a high degree of precision and understanding of technical data and systems. The I&C Eng. often works alone and must be aware of circumstances that can contribute to the injury of personnel and damage to equipment. The I&C Eng. shall work a forty (40) hour work week Monday through Friday and shall provide coverage for Watch Engineers in the event of sick leave, vacation, emergency or leave of absence during any shift.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain equipment used to control the operation of boilers, compressors, pumps, engines, generators and other plant equipment and systems.
Perform periodic cleaning, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibration of electrical, electronic, and pneumatic control systems. Typical equipment serviced includes temperature and pressure instruments, gages, flow transmitters, switches, solenoids, indicators, recorders, sensors and control valves.
Perform repairs and modifications to control circuitry. Install and program electronic instruments. Install sensing elements, wiring, tubing and fittings. Clean and repair electrical power switching equipment.
Test, analyze, and troubleshoot electrical power supply circuits.
Remove, install, clean, and repair, motors, circuit breakers, transformers. Create, maintain, and update diagrams, drawings, and plans for plant electrical, electronic, and pneumatic controls and instruments.
Install, maintain, and calibrate computerized controls, instruments and programmable controllers.
Must possess knowledge of PLC's, automation systems, industrial instrumentation, computers, and other electrical and electronic instrumentation. National Electrical Code. Electrical and Instrumentation troubleshooting skills. ARC Flash Hazard Recognition.
Office duties which include but are not limited to, keeping timesheet documentation updated, as well as instrument calibration records. Ensures the documentation of equipment maintenance history through the use of the CMMS System and or other means. Maintain well organized filing systems on all instrumentation and related equipment (i.e. - Manuals, drawings, calibration records, etc.).
Established preventative maintenance (PM) program and corrective work orders.
Assist in the planning and scheduling of outages.
Be able to interact and communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including interaction with external vendors and contractors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job can be physically demanding involving movement of heavy equipment and carrying materials up and down stairs. Candidates should be able to lift a 50-lbs. load.
Requires ability to stand frequently and to sit occasionally for extended periods of time, climb ladders and stairs, effectively work in high places; periodically bending and twisting and frequently apply a moderate amount of force to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must be physically capable of passing a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
The position may require physical exam and random drug screening
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background
Associate degree in industrial technology or an engineering discipline with two (2) years' work related field experience.
Technical or trade school degree in electronics, computer science, or equivalent industry training and experience.
2 years' progressive experience as an Engineer performing maintenance and repair in central plant, power generation or other process plants
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Thorough understanding of electrical safety procedures and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures
Demonstrated experience and knowledge at reading process flow diagrams and control and instrumentation diagrams and interpreting manufacturer's manuals and drawings.
Experience with electrical systems up to 480 Volts.
Familiarity with principles of refrigeration and thermodynamics.
Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment with a high degree of initiative • Acquainted with the environmental operating limitations on equipment to insure compliance
Required Certification / Licenses / Training
Must hold a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record to maintain minimum company required insurance coverage.
Preferred: Certified Refrigeration Technician under the Clean Air Act of 1990, Section 608.
Must hold and maintain all Watch Engineer Licenses required for Kings Plaza Mall.
