Launch EL Charter School is part of a network of 14 EL Education (formerly Expeditionary Learning) and NYC Outward Bound schools in New York City and is the NYC network’s first charter school. EL is a proven educational model being implemented in over 150 district, charter, and independent schools across the country. Position Overview
Launch is seeking a part-time ELL teacher with a track record of success to join our motivated and passionate team of educators under the EL Education model. At Launch, the ELL Teacher will:
Support English Language Learners to achieve mastery of learning targets across all subjects
Attend professional development around best practices for teaching English Language Learners and turnkey information to full staff
Differentiate instruction and employ various co-teaching models to ensure that all students meet language proficiency and content standards
Collaborate with general education teachers to develop and implement effective strategies for multilingual learners
Use data to track student progress, inform instruction, and adjust teaching practices
Foster a classroom environment that is inclusive, welcoming, and celebrates linguistic diversity
Develop students’ academic language proficiency alongside character development
Push-in/pull out to support learners in classroom spaces.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of language acquisition principles and the needs of multilingual learners
Commitment to equity, Launch’s mission, and the EL Education model
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred)
Valid State Certification in TESOL or Bilingual Education (preferred)
Experience working with multilingual learners in an urban setting preferred
Ability to demonstrate our Habits of Responsibility in every aspect of their work
Compensation: Highly competitive and commensurate with experience. Please note that this is a part-time role and does not include benefits.
