We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regional Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Regional Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and implementing automation and robotics solutions within our Construction Segment. You will play a key role in improving efficiency, productivity, and quality by leveraging cutting-edge automation technologies. This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing - Construction and will be Regional across all UFP Construction Plants as we continue to grow our Automation initiative. Travel: 60-65% Principal Duties and Responsibilities Ability to lead and work alongside shop floor employees Strong communication skill to be able to discuss/mentor at all levels throughout the plants (shop floor, upper plant management, regional management) Collecting needed details to be able to present the concept of the project to upper management. Bring in other departments (Design, OT/IT, Operations, etc.) and vendors as needed to assist in the design and implementation of the project. Play a key role in improving efficiency, productivity, and quality by leveraging cutting-edge automation technologies. Collaborate with regional teams to identify areas for automation and robotics implementation, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Design, develop, and implement automation and robotics solutions, including but not limited to robotic process automation (RPA), machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other advanced technologies. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis for proposed automation projects, providing recommendations on the potential benefits and risks involved. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of automation and robotics systems with existing infrastructure and processes. Provide technical support and guidance to regional teams during the implementation and testing phase of automation projects, ensuring smooth transition and user adoption. Monitor and evaluate the performance of automation and robotics systems, identifying areas for improvement and making necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in automation and robotics technology, and proactively share knowledge and insights with the team. Train plant staff on the proper use and maintenance of automation and robotics systems, ensuring maximum utilization and longevity. Collaborate with external vendors and suppliers to evaluate and select automation and robotics equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and specifications. Adhere to all relevant safety protocols and standards when designing, implementing, and maintaining automation and robotics systems. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Proven experience and expertise in automation and robotics, including designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of robotic process automation (RPA), machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other automation technologies. Experience with robotic hardware, software, and control systems. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex automation challenges and develop innovative solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skil s, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels. Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in automation and robotics technology. Knowledge in the construction industry is a plus.
