Student Program Coordinator

POSITION DETAILS

Bronx Community College seeks a Student Programming Coordinator to join the newly formed Office of Student Diversity Initiatives (OSDI) within the Division of Student Success. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs (AVP), the Student Program Coordinator will provide a variety of administrative and program support services to the programs within OSDI namely the Woxmn Up! Center, the LGBTQIA+ Resource Room, and the Male Empowerment Network, as well as any other diversity student programs and initiatives including but not limited to Dreamers (undocumented students).

In support of the mission and goals of the City University of New York and Bronx Community College, OSDI develops extracurricular and co-curricular activities focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to enhance students’ learning experiences, personal development, and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and two years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the student body that BCC serves

  • Progressively responsible experience in student support services

  • Experience working in Higher Education

  • Experience working on student retention and graduation initiatives

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

The Student Programming Coordinator will enter the OSDI at a time of growth and creative energy. The OSDI provides an array of intellectual and experiential opportunities for students to become engaged citizens through its various departments and programs which support student organizations, academic and curricular programs and activities, social events, athletics, community and service learning opportunities, as well as student support services that enhance their collegiate experience.

Under the general supervision of the AVP, the Student Programming Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of educational, social, recreational programs and special events.

In addition to the general duties, the Student Programming Coordinator will:

•Collaborate with the AVP and Program Directors/Advisors in researching, developing, and marketing programs and services with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and belonging to facilitate student growth in independent learning, effective self-¬-advocacy and self-determination.

•Participate in the day-to-day services and activities of the assigned programs and initiatives that supports achievement of student academic, career and personal success; work with College, University, and community stakeholders to collaborate on, develop and market OSDI programs and services; answer questions over the phone or at the program office(s) and resolve escalated questions and concerns from students, faculty, staff, vendors and the public regarding assigned program and services; explain program or service processes, procedures, rules and guidelines, and assist in delivering programs and services

• Assist AVP by performing administrative or program support functions requiring specialized knowledge of program and administrative work processes; collaborate with key campus stakeholders to assist in providing oversight and coordination with program directors and advisors of program calendars and schedules; student records, databases and files; gather information from Program Directors/Advisors regarding student initial and ongoing program eligibility and program participation and academic progress for funding or reimbursement purposes; generate and reconcile reports from multiple data sources.

• Monitor and process budget allocations and expenditures; maintain financial and statistical records and prepare reports; assist in developing program budgets, objectives and procedures within CUNY guidelines; track and maintain payments to students and reimbursement data for services;

•Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

• Serve on college committees as requested

• Monitor implementation of program policies and practices

• Assist in preparing and providing student support services to promote the personal development of a diverse student population.

•Assist student organizations/clubs in planning, implementing events and programs, and managing expenditures

•Coordinate and help present informational and educational programs, such as student leadership training and orientation

• Assist with the management of student affairs facilities, such as acquiring equipment and arranging event logistics

• Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with education and experience: $44,411-$57,517
