Staff Analyst Trainee I (TA): $49,599 - $52,571 (New Hire rate: $43,129)

Staff Analyst Trainee II (TA): $53,565 - $59,520 (New Hire rate: $46,580)

Staff Analyst Trainee I (OA): $54,026 - $57,267

Staff Analyst Trainee II (OA): $58,351 - $64,832

Responsibilities:

This position serves as administrative support for all MTA Bus Electronic Security Systems (ESS). It is responsible for the fundamental system health checks and preventive maintenance of all Electronic Security Systems including, but not limited to Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, License Plate Recognition Systems and all other associated ESS subsystems and equipment. In addition, the incumbent will assist the Director of ESS with the development and coordination of ESS training, programs, projects, and initiatives.

The incumbent will assist with performing the following duties:

• Perform routine systems checks, ensure all Access Control, Video Management, Intrusion Detection, License Plate Recognition Systems and all other associated ESS sub-systems and equipment are online and operational. Perform regular system tests to ensure system data integrity and accuracy.

• Coordinate scheduling of installations, maintenance, and repair of cameras and ESS equipment.

• Identify, plan and schedule periodic maintenance intervals.

• Provide direct support to system end-users.

• Develop and provide hands-on ESS training to Security Management, guards, and other system and end-users.

• Assist with the researching, developing, designing, and testing of ESS equipment, components, products and systems with the goal of fully optimizing security investments and programs.

• Receive and manage daily requests for Access Control System modifications.

• Collect and maintain project specifications, drawings, network diagrams, acceptance documents and as-builts.

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Staff Analyst Trainee I:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or

  • An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification; or in personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education, or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in “2” above; or

  • A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its education equivalent.

    Staff Analyst Trainee II:

    Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service as a Staff Analyst Trainee I

    Desired Skills:

  • Experience with operating Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and Video Management Systems.

  • Knowledge of general electronic security best practices.

  • Knowledge of installing Windows-based operating system software and workstation set-up.

  • Highly organized and detail oriented in keeping pace in frequently changing environments.

  • Ability to interface effectively with senior management, staff, and MTA affiliates and external organizations.

  • Must possess the ability to handle security sensitive information while maintain a high degree of discretion.

  • Willingness to pursue MTA NYCT sponsored/funded technical certification courses for access control and video management products.

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, etc.) and to be held for mandatory overtime when necessary to meet business needs.

  • Hold a valid Driver License with no restrictions in the State of New York

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Competence with Windows operating systems and fundamental Windows conventions.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Hold a valid Driver License with no restrictions in the State of New York
