POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the AVP of Budget, Finance and Business Operations, the Finance Specialist’s duties include not only the

CUNY Title Overview, but are not limited to:

• Supports the AVP with the operations associated with internal controls, year-end procedures, annual audits and

other financial functions; ensuring proper coordination among divisional departments including, Accounting,

Accounts Payable, Budget, Purchasing, and Non-Tax Levy- NTL entities.

• Assists in the multi-year financial plan in support of the College’s Strategic Plan.

• Prepares, analyzes and maintains monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports, as required; assists the

monthly, mid-year and fiscal year-end close and reconciliation processes.

• Supports the division in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.

• Assist in developing and maintaining a divisional booklet with mandated policies and procedures related to budget

and finance matters; coordinates the regular updates of divisional websites.

• Serves as P and T cards backup coordinator and updates card holder accounts.

• Maintain divisional records and serves as records retention liaison for the division.

• Participates in special projects and other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred qualifications include:

• Minimum of four years experience in financial planning, budgeting, finance and/or analysis;

• MBA or other advanced degree in business discipline;

• Minimum of one year experience in Higher Education;

• Exceptional knowledge of MS Office products, specifically excel;

• Excellent organizational and analytical skills;

• Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with competing deadlines;

• Strong communication and writing skills.

Coordinates financial matters for a program or department under management direction.

  • Maintains financial accounts for income and spending; administers the allocation of funds

  • Analyzes spending, income trends and usage to recommend improvements

  • Manages the collection of revenue and accounts receivable

  • Tracks and maintains financial data to provide fiscal reports to management; produces forecasting projections

  • Monitors the financial condition of operating centers to ensure efficient use of resources

  • Performs ad hoc reporting and analysis as necessary

  • May supervise subordinate staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
