Signature Healthcare’s Brockton Hospital is hiring for a Full-Time, Day, 7a-3p Unit Secretary in Brockton, MA.

A New Day

Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital Emergency Department (ED) has undergone a renovation concluding in 2024 to better meet the needs of our patients and staff. The ED staff care for patients of all ages, supporting the needs of our diverse community. The ED includes 49 beds including a secured 12 bed area for behavioral health patients. The ED employees RN, LPN, Paramedic, Technical and Clerical Staff and works closely with Security and other ancillary services of the organization.

Unit Secretary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the customer’s needs and provide correct information and the ability to resolve problems requiring logical thinking and follow through.

  • Functions calmly and logically under tense and difficult situations.

  • Works with frequent interruptions and responds appropriately to unexpected situations.

  • Constructive feedback and initiates appropriate actions to correct situations.

  • Deals with a variety of unique situations where only limited standardization may exist.

  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills to work in a fast paced environment involving interaction with associates, clients, and patients.

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Commits to recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external). Communicates effectively with internal and external customers and respects differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

    Preferred

  • Previous health care experience desirable.

  • Previous secretarial or computer experience desired preferably in a health-related field.

  • Medical secretarial or computer-related courses preferred but not required.

  • Meditech experience preferred.

  • Medical terminology course completion preferred
