Position Summary:

The Seasonal Per Diem Warming Center Staff is responsible for supporting the Code Blue Orleans County Warming Center. The Warming Center is county funded initiative with Oak Orchard Health being the lead agency to facilitate the operations of this program. The Warming Center is a safe space where county residents can come during inclement weather so that they are not in harm’s way due to extreme weather conditions. This is a seasonal position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Respond to Code Blue Alerts from Monroe County Department of Human Services

• Provide ongoing support to the Warming Center, in conjunction with Oak Orchard Health, and responding to crises.

• Ensure space is safe for residents and have sufficient knowledge to enact emergency services if crises arise.

• Light cleaning following each shift to ensure space is ready for future use.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills.

• Ability to connect with Warming Center guests with a kind, empathetic, and trauma informed approach.

• Ability to respond to crises that may arise using verbal de-escalation skills and activating emergency services as needed.

• Responsiveness to calls and emails, especially as it relates to activation of the Code Blue alerts.

• Strong leadership skills to support oversight of the center, including creation of on-call schedules for warming center staff.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED.

Salary Description

$24/hr $30 per shift
