Job Description

At Brno's Thermo Fisher Scientific, we develop and manufacture innovative electron microscopes and spectrometers. They participate in the research of the ZIKA virus, HIV, they allow the shrinking of mobile phones. Our work contributes to making the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We are the largest production of electron microscopes in the world, and we continue a more than 70-year-old tradition. You will find experts in physics, electronics, software, mechanical design and logistics.

General Responsibilities

• Demonstrates good independent judgment and thinking to develop creative ways or in selecting known methods and techniques for acquiring solutions.

• Interactions and coordination between functional areas, other departments, or customers, external collaborators, and the company. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in the respective areas of expertise interacts with supervisors, group leaders, customers, and peers.

• The ability to set and build the right working climate. Follow work safety, fire safety, hygiene of work, and other regulatory standards.

• Other duties as assigned.

Specific Results associated with this position include:

• Participate as scientist in development projects within Thermo Fisher Scientific or with partners.

• Work includes

• Theoretical analysis in the area of expertise

• Developing (sub)system designs within in multidisciplinary teams.

• Setup and execution of experiments to investigate detailed behavior of designs or their implementation in Thermo Fisher Scientific systems.

• Assist in optimizing of system-level performance (resolution, quality, throughput, cost, …)

• Participate on collaboration projects with external partners

• Communication and documentation of own work through presentations and reports.

• Support (through active support and knowledge transfer) Thermo Fisher Scientific’s activities in operations, service, product management, and marketing.

• Lead small-sized study projects

• Enhance your technical knowledge related to Electron Microscopy.

• Generate novel ideas for improving Thermo Fisher Scientific XDB products. Create and test corresponding PoP or PoC prototypes.

• Travel as needed to fulfill job requirements (<25%)

• Follow the effective documents IMS, EMS and managing documentations.
