B.C. Contract until December 2025 Basic Purpose: Responsible for carrying analysis of environmental samples analysis in strict compliance to the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Health and Safety policies. Meets quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements. Key Accountability/Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high level of accuracy and performs analysis utilizing complex instrumentation such as GC-MS/FID requiring critical analytical thinking and decision making

  • Carry out routine maintenance and calibration of instruments

  • Participate in internal/external audits, and contribute to investigations/corrective actions.

  • Participate in developing, review and revise general Work Instructions, method SOP’s, and other controlled documents.

  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics PolicyProvide supervisor/manager with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays

  • Review LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) when conducting work

  • Perform sample preparation and procedures prior to analysis as described in the test methods and reviews daily workload to accommodate daily rushes

  • Prepare reagents and calibration standards as required for the analysis

  • Interpret data, calculate final results and enters data into LIMS

  • Carry out quality control procedures and recognizes when data is unacceptable using guidelines stated in the test methods or in departmental standard operating procedures

  • Identify any non-routine samples and seeks guidance on procedures for handling

  • Meet quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements

  • Identify and communicate procedural non conformances to Supervisor

  • Employ proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross contamination between samples and other materials

  • Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy Skills and Knowledge:

  • Science Technical Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent

  • GCMS/FID experience would be an asset

  • Strong science background and experience in laboratory practices

  • Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

  • High degree of accuracy

  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Working Conditions:

  • High level of work production in fast paced lab environment

  • May require flexible workings hours, overtime and shift work

  • Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE
