L3Harris in Bristol/Burgess Hill/Barrow provides enduring, robust and cutting-edge Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS) for the UK Royal Navy sub-surface and surface fleets, notably current Astute submarine and Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers, in-build Type 26 and Type 31 frigates.
The successful applicant will receive exposure and experience working on large scale projects with opportunities to advance their career in the field of software engineering. The applicant shall have worked in a professional engineering environment, be familiar with engineering processes and possess a strong appreciation of software development.

What the role will involve
Working within the Agile development, the key responsibilities of the role are shown below:
Creating software designs using IBM Rhapsody (SysML) for various MCAS, PPMS, ship subsystems on the Integrated Platform Management Systems
Produce and maintain software documentation ensuring full traceability of the software throughout the lifecycle
Maintain and develop internal tools written in Python
Reviewing and analysing requirements and modifying the functional specifications adhering to company process and procedure
Creating test scripts for system integration and validation
Producing system design, system test reports and configuration records
Conducting investigations into change requests and resolving software development issues
Analysing work packages, estimating hours and identifying milestone dates
Leading sprint planning and sprint retrospectives on occasion
What you’ll bring
The role requires the following experience and skills:
Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 5 years of prior related experience.
Familiarity with software programming – Python would be advantageous
Eagerness to learn and interest in all aspects of automation system development
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent PC skills for documents, spreadsheets and databases
