We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join us at our modern manufacturing facility in Western Approach. This site is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircrafts.

The successful candidate will be joining a strong team of 25 engineers. You will be supporting the A350 and A400M projects by working with multiple departments to ensure smooth running of processes and analyse and provide solution to problems that arise. You will strive for continuous improvement and work well within your team to problem solve.

The role will see the successful engineer working a 12/7 shift rota, on a 06:00am - 18:00pm shift pattern as follows:

WK1:

Saturday Sunday Wednesday Thursday

WK2:

Monday Tuesday Friday

There is potential for overtime in this role dependant on business requirements, which is paid at 128% Mon-Fri, 150% Saturday-Sunday

How You'll Contribute

The role exists to provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. The post holder will be accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Generating methods and bills of materials using SAP Workbench or equivalent in the manufacture of aero structure parts and assemblies

  • Providing a trouble shooting service to the shop floor, this activity will require evaluation of issues with tooling, parts and assemblies

  • Applying zero defect tools, notably - practical problem solving tools

  • Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives

  • Accountable for product development, first article, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation

  • Defining the requirements for both hard tooling & internal NC Programming ensuring the condition of supply for up and downstream suppliers is considered and that design intent is achieved

What You'll Bring

Ideally you'll be familiar with Airbus processes & procedures and AS9145 APQP process or equivalent, although a background in aerospace is also desirable but not essential.

In addition to this, the successful candidate will have:

Essential:

A sound knowledge of assembly methods and general machining and fabrication techniques

Minimum NVQ level 3 (or Equivalent) in an engineering discipline with relevant experience within a manufacturing setting

Desirable:

A working knowledge of aero structures drawings and process documentation

A understanding of composite manufacture
