Why this job matters
This role is critical in delivery of the TV & Sport P&L across the EE & BT brands. Business partnering the TV & Sport marketing & Commercial teams in order to deliver £0.9bn Revenue & £1.2bn Direct Costs per annum
The role provides leadership in value steering, clear optimised business cases, delivery of P&L performance and frequent temperature checks on performance driving corrective actions where needed.
The role is also responsible for a number of confidential projects in the coming 18 months leading on business cases and implementation over FY23/FY24
Responsible for all trading decisions & marketing business cases ,stewardship and delivery of the TV & Sport P&L (Across the BT & EE brands)
What you’ll be doing
Complete finance authority for the the TV & Sport P&L, MTP and plan, including day to day trading decisions & business case preparation.
Accountable for stewarding, leading and partnering with the TV marketing and Commercial teams.
Ensuring maximised shareholder value is delivered balancing off short term & long term commitments
Key Business partner for TV marketing director
Leading a team of 5 direct reports and leading wider cross-functional teams across consumer and central finance
Management and delivery of the TV & Sport P&L (£0.9bn Revenue, £1.2bn Cost base)
Driving commercial decisions by providing commercial steering, robust value add analysis and offering creative solutions
Leading the delivery of the TV & Sport P&L through the forecasting cycle, clearly identifying gaps and driving profit protection plans.
Understand the root causes of under/over performance , using financial analysis to diagnose and solve problems
Finance ownership of significant external relationships with rights holders, platform companies & other content providers
Own & lead significant confidential projects within Consumer from a Finance perspective
Deal with Partners including WBD on the Sport JV ensuring the correct information goes through to the JV management and BT Board Members
Skills and Experience
Story telling with data - translating complex financial outcomes to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders through both oral and written communication.
Ability to tailor messages to the relevant audience, distilling key messages without losing the appropriate level of detail and driving the case for change
Fully qualified accountant with 5 Years minimum PQE
Advanced financial modelling (excel) skills - ability to build/coach others to create/manipulate detailed models to arrive at appropriate outputs/metrics to support decision making
Proven ability to influence and coach at MD / Director level and below and to build key relationships with appropriate business partners
Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to establish credibility, trust and respect and strong cross functional working relationships
Bold, confident and creative thinker, confident challenging the status quo where appropriate
Able to deal with ambiguity, identify resources to implement and determine pragmatic solutions
Strong team leadership skills, setting team direction, coaching and developing team members
