Location/Division Specific Information
The Quality Control (QC) Microbiology team, located in Woolloongabba, is responsible for the microbiological analysis of IPC samples, drug substance and drug product, environmental monitoring of production areas, aseptic qualification of staff and providing microbiological technical support across the business unit.
About the Role:
This role will ensure the smooth running of the QC Microbiology team. The QC Microbiology Supervisor will be responsible for a team of 8+ Microbiologists. The successful candidate will have a strong background in microbiology theory and experience, along with the ability to effectively communicate across varying teams in different modalities.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for day to day management of the QC Microbiology Laboratory, including planning of activities and resources, execution of analysis, reporting of results, and reporting of key performance indicators.
Supporting in activities related to analytical development and QC test strategy to meet or support the client’s requirements and/or expectations.
Proactively contribute to regulatory and client audits when required. Work collaboratively with co-workers to maintain the QC Microbiology in an ‘audit ready’ state.
Work collaboratively with team on non-routine work or work outside of the scope of the normal day to day tasks.
Lead training of QC Microbiology staff and other staff as required. Act as mentor for new and junior members of the QC Microbiology Team. Guide, encourage and assist team members to complete their assigned tasks.
Proactively lead raising Change Controls, report and investigate microbiological excursions (OOS, deviations).
Lead process improvement initiatives. Prepare, maintain and improve the quality of microbiological generated documents including SOPs, Specifications, Test Methods, Policies, Summary Reports and Investigation Reports. Review and approve documents for the QC Microbiology team.
Keys to Success:
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or closely related degree. Postgraduate qualifications beneficial.
Experience
Background in analytical theory and technical competency with laboratory analysis.
At least 1 year previous experience in leadership and personnel management.
Experience with cGMP manufacturing, past experience within biopharmaceutical production beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledgeable with cGMP and various laboratory analyses, efficient sample workflows, in process controls, analytical testing and equipment maintenance/introduction.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong team-working and collaborative skills.
