Responsibilities

  • Enter changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers as part of managing payroll records

  • Promote employee confidence by protecting payroll operations and keeping information confidential

  • Help payroll manage all internal and external audits

  • Answer questions and requests related to payroll information

  • Payroll information management via collecting, calculating, and entering data

  • Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads

  • Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities

  • Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary

  • Detail all payroll liabilities by establishing employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payment

  • Review source documents with necessary verification

  • Manage other tasks as assigned

  • Using federal and state regulations and guidelines, ensure company compliance

  • Draft reports by organizing all summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages

  • Manage payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information

    Requirements - Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen

  • Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional

  • Prior experience working with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.

  • Previous experience using accounting software

  • Experience with high volume data entry

  • Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills

  • Foundational knowledge in Multi-state Payroll

  • Sage Timberline experience highly desired

  • Practical knowledge of Process Bi-weekly Payroll

  • Proficiency in union payroll

  • Adeptness in Sage Timberline

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) experience

  • Certified Payroll experience

  • General familiarity with Microsoft Excel

  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction

  • Understanding of internal controls

  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll
