Job Summary: This position is responsible for the management of both the Graduate Medical Education Program and the Department of Medicine. GME Program: This position serves as the GME Institutional Coordinator for the ACGME and manages a team of Residency Coordinators and oversees the functions and resources associated with organizing, implementing, and meeting goals and guidelines for the GME programs at SVMC, which includes, but is not limited to Internal Medicine, Radiology, Psychiatry, Family Medicine and Anesthesia in a 3-4 year training program approved by The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Dept of Medicine (DoM) Administration: This position is responsible overseeing the administrative structure for activities within the Department of Medicine, the largest department at SVMC, and integral to almost every service offered. In addition, this position closely collaborates with the Chair of Medicine in a collegial environment to operationalize the many programs and objectives that are outlined for the department each year. Responsibilities: GME Manager – 80% · Manages staff of programs coordinators including providing developmental opportunities for colleagues through comprehensive performance standards. · Plans, implements, and communicates department operations, policies and procedures tomanagement and associates. · Prepares and analyzes GME departmental financial reports, financial analyses and budgetary reports.Oversees forecasting and business planning and supervises production and presentation of departmental annual budgets. · Manages the administration of the residency training programs and is directly responsible to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and associate DIO. · Oversees resident hiring as it pertains to Hartford Healthcare and SVMC employment requirements which includes managing visa preparation. · Liaisons between the DIOs and the hospital administrators as well as other departments, divisions, residents and students. · Liaisons with HHC Academic Affairs, QU Netter GME and UME leadership as well as the other system level hospitals who take our learners. · As the GME institutional coordinator, this position is responsible for coordinating all activities and responsibilities of the GMEC as required by the ACGME · Performs administrative reviews to ensure programs are meeting ACGME, Joint Commission and institutional requirements. * * Dept of Medicine Manager – 20% · Collaborates with Chair of Medicine to manage administrative activities of the Dept of Medicine including credentialing, contract management and assisting with hiring processes. · Manages the scheduling visibility for DoM on call providers using scheduling software · Liaisons on behalf of the department with the leaders of the service lines, hospital, and medical groups. · Develops solutions to improve current services/business processes to make them more efficient and ensure providers and clinical programs have the support services they need, which involves both HHCMG providers as well as PSA and private providers. · May perform or coordinate varied and complex processes and determine the most appropriate methods and procedures. May facilitate, coordinate, or oversee process(es) as needed. May collaborate with other team members on certain projects/assignments as needed. Requires planning, analysis and judgment to achieve desired outcomes. · Supports Schwartz Rounds, Wellness events, CME events, and provider support events. · Other duties as assigned per the chair. · Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA or MHA preferred. Licensure, Certification, Registration: · C-TAGME Certified or C-TAGME eligible preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Preferences · Strong project management and critical thinking skills. · Proven experience taking initiative based on based on independent judgment, understanding the impact across the organization. · Facile with Microsoft Office Suite, and shared drives (Microsoft OneDrive, Enterprise), Adobe Pro, Outlook/Office 365, shared calendars/inboxes, scheduling software. Ability to learn/navigate new software, video conferencing, and other technology comfortably. · Knowledge of GME/UME programs/software: New Innovations, RedCap, MedHub, VSLO, Thalamus, ERAS, AMION, Qgenda and/or ACGME WebAds. * * Work Experience: · Minimum 5-7 years of high-level administrative experience in an academic hospital setting, or demonstrated competency generally obtained by working in medical education, graduate medical education, and/or undergraduate medical education.
