Job Summary and Qualifications

The Transport Paramedic provides safe, high quality, patient-centered care within a state-regulated and program-defined scope of practice. The Transport Paramedic will be trained, equipped and willing to deliver care in a mobile environment, as well as function as a member of multi-disciplinary teams within healthcare facilities during the course of patient transports. The Transport Paramedic will function clinically under the direction of the program’s Medical Director through Patient Care Guidelines and online medical direction, in compliance with the regulations of the Tennessee Department of Health, Office of EMS. Employee will be accountable to exemplifying excellent service behavior to patients, clients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, vendors; show courtesy, personalized attention, respect, compassion and timely responsiveness to all customers at all times. Paramedic will act as the team leader during care of patients requiring transport.

What you will do in this role:

· Provide safe and effective transportation of patients to and from predetermined locations using all established laws, policies, and procedures set forth by the State of Tennessee Department of Health, Office of EMS.

· To provide quality BLS, ALS and emergency care to patients requiring procedures in accordance with established Tennessee Department of Health, Office of EMS, scope of practice and credentialing.

· Paramedic will act as the team leader during care of patients requiring transport.

· Paramedic will work as part of a healthcare team in the emergency department, based on credentialing approved by the hospital. Approved skills/tasks/meds for the ED are defined in the advanced paramedic skills and medication list.

· Ensures emergency vehicles and equipment are maintained and in a state of readiness at all times.

· Performs daily duties to maintain a clean and organized environment.

· Assumes accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.

· Maintains a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.

· Supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.

· Exemplifies excellent service behavior to patients, clients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, vendors; show courtesy, personalized attention, respect, compassion and timely responsiveness to all customers at all times.

· Participates in regular drills and special events to assure adequate staffing and appropriate training for staff

· Maintains personal and state mandated education needs within education policy guidelines.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Completion of an Accredited Paramedic Training Program

  • Tennessee Paramedic License

  • Tennessee Class D Driver's License

  • BLS and ACLS

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), or within 60 days of hire

  • 2 years as a transport Paramedic preferred
