Outreach is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of FT Primary Counselor to work in our Residential Program located in Brentwood, NY. The Primary Counselor is responsible for the delivery of direct clinical services in a substance abuse treatment setting. The schedule is as follows: Monday, Tuesday: 9am to 5pm; Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday: 1pm to 9pm.
What You Will Do:
Facilitate various formats (e.g. individuals, groups, specialty groups) on time and in a professional, ethical and caring manner. Manage all aspects of a caseload from date of entry to date of discharge with special attention to appropriate levels of care and appropriate clinical interventions
Provide backup coverage in the event of other clinical staff absences
Demonstrate initiative in task identification and completion; use time efficiently in working with the Program Director and Program Coordinator to effectively handle volume of work
Address program issues with the Program Director, which pertain to strategic objectives, annual plan and overall delivery of services
Participate in and support agency quality improvement programs; support actions to improve care and services based on outcome data

Who You Are:
Advanced degree required; LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, MHC, MSW LP or higher preferred
Limited permit or clinical master’s level candidate with relevant experience will be considered
2-3 years of experience with substance abuse disorders; Knowledge of forensic populations
1-2 years of experience working with clients with co-occurring and mental health problems
1-2 years of experience working in an OASAS funded facility a plus
Commitment to providing quality services and outcome-driven performance measures
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Relevant experience with QHP
Experience with AVATAR electronic health records a plus
Bilingual Spanish or Polish a plus

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outside in the field. This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to travel among assigned sites and locations as needed.
