Summary You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will apply shop mathematics to figure irregular curves, angles, and pitch. You will use instruments such as, protractors; calipers; snap ring, height, depth, dial, and screw pitch gauges; and other hand measurement devices to measure plans and projects. You will work with various metals, including magnesium, honeycomb material, alloys, stainless steel, and copper sheet; and perform related spot welding. You will use sheet metal mechanic skills to plan, lay out, and construct items and systems with dovetailed, set-in bottom, burred bottom, wired, or lock seams; and curved edges or irregular curves and planes. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
