Naval Facilities Engineering Command MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in Bremerton, Washington

Summary You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC NORTHWEST. Responsibilities You will supervise employees to accomplish all functions of assigned shop work. You will plan work schedules and sequence of operations for the supervised workforce. You will set shop priorities and determine the number and type of personnel required to accomplish job assignments. You will assign work to subordinates either orally, by providing written instructions, manual or electronic work orders through MAXIMO. You will train subordinates in work methods and procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safety regulations and other regulations and policies established by the Federal Government. You will inspect work in progress to ensure productivity, efficiency, economy, and safety of operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbent does considerable walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and working in awkward positions. Close attention to vision, dexterity of hands and analysis of equipment by ear are required. Required to carry a portable radio, pager or cellular phone to maintain contact with supervisor or customer service center at all times. May be designated as emergency essential personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather, disasters, or periods of increased security threat. This position requires rotating shift work. The position often requires irregular hours. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
