Amazon VAT Compliance Analyst, EMEA VAT compliance in Bratislava, Slovakia

The EMEA VAT compliance team, allocated to ESS compliance with possibility to relocate to other geo within the team upon the need

The responsibility of the candidate include

• Assist with indirect tax registrations across various jurisdictions;

• Assist in the documentation and improvement of indirect tax processes;

• Assist in month-end indirect tax account reconciliations;

• Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis;

• Provide indirect tax compliance support (prepare VAT compliance returns) and collaborate with colleagues throughout the business including Accounting, A/P, A/R, and Finance;

• Participate in cross-functional projects

•Manage indirect projects on compliance, controller- ship and tech debt

This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements

Key job responsibilities

  • Preparation of VAT compliance reports and returns

  • VAT reconciliations

Base pay for this position starts from EUR 2975 gross per month and salary depends on the skills and requirements, there will be further pay components such as a sign on bonus and the eligibility to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Company benefits apply subject to further terms, including annual membership in medical clinic, life insurance, retirement pension, meal voucher card, career development.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in tax, accounting, finance, or related field

• 5+ years of experience of working in VAT advisory or VAT compliance function or Accounting function;

• Fluent in English and other languages desirable

Preferred Qualifications

A recognised accounting or tax qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, AAT or similar);

• Experience of advisory or compliance function in multiple jurisdictions

• Organised, analytical and methodical with attention to detail;

• Advanced in MS Excel;

• Able to take ownership of work, implement change, and demonstrate a problem solving approach;

• Good communication and personal skills with a hands-on team-oriented attitude;

• Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

• Collaborate team player who is comfortable with a fast paced and dynamic environment
