HERSCHEND FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT CORPORATION / Silver Dollar City Attractions Ride Mechanic (Taney County Hiring Event Participant 1/30/25) in Branson, Missouri

Job Summary:

As an Auto Body Painter/Ride Mechanic, you will be accountable for preparing and painting fiberglass theme park rides at Silver Dollar City. Also, you will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance for all designated rides and/or attractions at Silver Dollar City.

Our hardworking team of mechanics work behind the scenes to make sure the rides stay up and running safely while the park is open.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Paints ride vehicles and projects with precision and accuracy to specified quality standards.
  • Repairs defects on painted surfaces.
  • Renovates and renews paint coatings.
  • Prepares the surfaces for painting and coating (sands, buffs, touch-ups, paint mixing, airbrush, and polishing).
  • Removes any rust from metal, grease, and dirt from the work surface.
  • Uses a spray gun to spray filler materials on the surfaces that have scratches to make sure they acquire a level and smooth surface before applying the paint.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace parts, such as needed.
  • Takes care of the parts of the vehicle that have not been painted by covering them with a paper and masking tape so that they do not get coated with paint.
  • Matches colors and mixes paints to project specifications.
  • Applies primer, paint, and a clear coat to repaired surfaces.
  • Paints the surface using a sprayer or brush as appropriate.
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Responsible for the inspection and preventive/corrective maintenance of individual or groups of rides and/or other attractions.
  • Assist in weekly, monthly, semi-annual and annual maintenance requirements per the Ride Manufacturers instructions and SDCs internal procedures.
  • Respond to downtime, repair and ride recovery issues immediately upon notification.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of assigned mechanical, electrical and special effects on rides and/or attractions.
  • Utilize manuals, technical drawings and other forms of documentation to perform the tasks above.
  • Document all work performed on a ride/attraction into the companys Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including but not limited to: inspections, corrective actions, log book entries and any other applicable information required by the Silver Dollar City Log Book Procedure.
  • Effectively communicate with others on your team, other maintenance teams and all other divisional employees and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with other maintenance teams and all other divisional employees and leadership.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a background check.
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend instructions, and communicate in English.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Class E Driver's License or resident state equivalent.
  • Must have a working knowledge of paint mixing and matching techniques.
  • Must be proficient in all areas of automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Must have a working knowledge of the proper utilization and care of basic hand and power tools.
  • Must have a high attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.
  • Must have a strong level of dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wh le numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1 - 3 yearsof previous automotive painting experience, maintenance experience, and/or experience in a Theme Park Industry setting.
  • Proof of ASE Certification.
  • Proof of current certification(s) in any related field or equipment.
  • Proof of OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour course completion.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds (assisted).
