Job Description

Reporting to the Lab Supervisor, the Research Technician will conduct testing on various research projects and compile reports to determine product compliance with company standards and quality.

WHEN YOU JOIN US, YOU WILL;

  • Perform quality assurance testing on asphalt roofing shingle products and raw materials to ensure compliance with company standards.

  • Conduct research projects under the direction of the Lab Supervisor or Corporate Quality Engineer.

  • Compile laboratory reports by interpreting research data for evaluation by the Lab Supervisor.

  • Follow and adhere to Internal Laboratory SOPs, ASTM, and UL test methods.

  • Maintain accurate record-keeping practices and strict adherence to quality and safety programs.

  • Receive samples from various internal and external customers and assign sample numbers for identification.

  • Ensure the accuracy and calibration of laboratory testing equipment.

  • Support production plants within IKO by providing supplemental research data.

  • Undertake other projects and assignments related to research and quality assurance as needed.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE;

  • Experience in a laboratory environment is desired

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office is required; advanced Excel functions are preferred

  • Ability to manage and prioritize several projects simultaneously.

  • Effective team player with a positive, adaptable attitude

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Self-motivated, results and action oriented

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a routine basis
