StackTeck PET Mold Assembler (Days and Afternoons) in Brampton, Ontario

StackTeck, with over five decades of mold building innovation, is a leading source of high productivity tooling solutions for the injection molding industry. StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML. 

SUMMARY: The position of PET Mold Assembler performs duties required to complete assembly of plastic injection and closure molds as per assembly drawings and specifications. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager, Mold Assembly.

  Days: Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.

 Afternoons: Monday to Thursday from 4:00 pm to 2:30 am

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assembly and disassembly of new and refurbished molds

  • Read bills of material and specifications sheets to locate and verify parts to assemble.

  • Interprets injection mold component drawings

  • Perform in-process inspection of parts which include visual inspection and/or dimensional measurement for conformance to requirements on defined drawings;

  • Proficient in use of pneumatic air tools, micrometers, Vernier calipers, gauge block and dial test indicators

  • Perform hand grinding, etching and cleaning of new and refurbished mold components;

  • Work with a team in a high precision environment while contributing to maintain the specifications of design.

  • Uses hoist/crane to move materials, parts and assemblies.

  • Ability to review bill of materials and follow very detailed assembly procedures.

  • Performs general housekeeping/clean up in assigned work area.

  • Performs other similar or related work as assigned/needed.

  • Use overhead cranes with slings shackles and eye bolts.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing/machine shop environment assembling mechanical parts to tight tolerances.

  • College certificate or diploma in General Machinist, or Mechanical Technician

  • Previous experience in Mold Making and Mold Maker certification is a definite asset.

  • Must be mechanically inclined.

  • Technically capable of performing single disciplines in hydraulics, mechanics or electrical assemblies.

  • Ability to read detailed component drawings and assembly drawings.

  • Proficiency using hand tools such as die grinders, impact wrenches, socket ratchets, hand drills and Allen keys.

  • Ability to use highly accurate measuring tools such as micrometers, depth mics, vernier calipers, gauge blocks and digital height gauges.
