Universal Health Services Clinical Pharmacist - Float Full Time (0.8 FTE) in BRADENTON, Florida

Responsibilities

For ALL Pharmacists: Provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care primarily through providing service excellence, clinical services, distributive functions, education, and a commitment to the department’s mission. He/she shall possess characteristics to successfully fulfill their responsibilities, including effective communication, flexibility, attention to detail, initiative, cooperation, and a high level of knowledge and skills applicable to their area of practice. He/she will regularly profile orders for medications, monitor patient’s drug therapies, provide drug information, and initiate/modify drug therapy based on medical staff approved policies and protocols.

Decentralized Float Pharmacist: In addition to providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care provided by all pharmacists, the decentralized float pharmacist will provide services through a decentralized model. The decentralized float pharmacist may not have an emphasis in one practice area, but will demonstrate general competence to provide services in multiple practice areas which may include Cardiology, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Infectious Disease/Antimicrobial Stewardship, Neonatology, Transitions of Care and/or Surgery. In addition to the job duties of the clinical pharmacist, he/she may regularly participate in interdisciplinary rounds/meetings, provide drug dosing and/or monitoring per hospital policy, and participate in development and revision of policies, procedures and protocols, and medication safety/quality/performance improvement initiatives. The decentralized float pharmacist will assist with supervision and direction of supportive staff, precepting pharmacy students, pharmacy residents and trainees.

    Qualifications

    Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharm) from an accredited institution with relevant acute care experience.

    All: Strong proficiency in computer literacy including but not limited to MS Office, Pharmacy clinical systems (Cerner), and Pyxis technologies

    PGY1 Residency/fellowship or three (3) years of relevant acute care experience

    Board Certification (BCP)

    All: Current Pharmacist License in the State of Florida

    All: Knowledge of hospital-based information system, reporting features, and Microsoft Office. Decentralized Float: Successful completion of competencies specific to specialty areas (Decentralized inpatient units, Emergency Care Services, Surgical Services, etc)
