Brief Position Overview
The IT Lead leads information technology initiatives for the college(s) or department(s) by researching, planning, coordinating, and directing information technology support for the college(s) or department(s). Collaborating and coordinating with the IT community and the office of the Chief Information Officer ( CIO ), this individual helps establish IT goals for the college(s) or department(s) and coordinates the work associated with implementation and achievement of the goals through collaboration with college/department administration, staff, faculty, and the MSU IT community.

Duties and Responsibilities
Function as a contributing member of the leadership team for the college(s) or department(s) by providing technical leadership, goals, initiatives, and a long-range plan for IT needs and innovation within the college(s) or department(s).
Represent the college(s) or department(s) in technical matters within the IT community, including the Information Exchange sessions.
Develop and maintain the budget for equipment acquisitions, upgrades, and replacements and coordinate all college or departmental CFAC .
Develop and implement IT policies and procedures (security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service procedures).
Collaborate and coordinate closely with the MSU CIO and the UIT community, campus groups, and outside vendors and partners.
Oversee college IT systems, functions, and personnel, including those in departments (functions include desktop support, servers, database services, programming, remote support, and connectivity).
Provide leadership and supervision to the two full-time college IT staff.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field, plus recent progressive experience in an IT field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education to effectively perform the required job functions.
Demonstrated supervisory experience which includes coaching, counseling, and evaluating job performance.
Demonstrated experience analyzing software environments and recommending changes to improve organization efficiency and system reliability and to reduce costs.
Demonstrated experience working in virtual environments.
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrated experience and knowledge in working with Apple products.
Demonstrated experience with software and network security-related policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated experience with current IT technologies and trends across a variety of hardware, software, desktop support, internet, internet applications, and network resources.
Demonstrated experience in applying cloud-based technologies.
