Job Status: Part time or Full-time. HRDC also has a "Wellness Hours Policy" which encourages full-time staff to use up to 4 paid hours weekly to work on their wellness for full-time team members.

Job Location:The Fork & Spoon - 206 E Griffin Ave, Bozeman, MT
Shifts:Monday - Friday 1:00pm - 8:00pm
General Summary of Purpose of this Position:
Primarily responsible for production of the evening dinner service meals for the restaurant and execution of dinner service each evening. Also assists in Catering and Food Truck food preparation and services.
Ensures the efficient operation of a large commercial kitchen keeping the facility safe, sanitary, and compliant with all applicable health, building, and contract service codes and regulations. Prepares meals utilizing community volunteers where appropriate. Assists with monitoring upkeep of the facility. Assists with menu development and material sourcing. Additional duties as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

- Food Preparation (30%)
Prepares nightly dinner for Fork & Spoon, along with Volunteers. Fork & Spoon team members provide support and coverage as needed.
Assists with food preparation for Catering and Food Truck programs
Assists with Catering and Food Truck operations
Ensures the safe operation, function, and use of all kitchen equipment and the safety of all kitchen workspace areas at all times.
Coordinates with supervisor on inventory, staffing and production needs.
Trains staff and volunteers in appropriate food prep and kitchen operations for delivery of dinner service
Run kitchen operations for dinner service without supervision.
Run front of house operations for dinner service without supervision.
- Kitchen Operations (30%)
Performs or oversees cleaning of kitchen and equipment is performed at completion of shift
Monitors and ensures along with the Head Chef the proper labeling, storage, utilization or disposal of food products
Oversees kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
Models best practices for kitchen management and food preparation
Maintains commercial kitchen practices and operations compliant to applicable Health and Safety Codes at all times.
Notifies supervisor of any equipment or tools in need of maintenance or replacement.
Immediately reports all safety concerns and/or incidents to the supervisor.
Manages and documents and utilizes inventory to ensure cost effectiveness.
Assists with food orders as needed
- Volunteer Coordination (30%)
Supervises community volunteers in appropriate food production and kitchen operations including necessary training in cleanliness and food safety practices and in all aspects of proper kitchen equipment use and safety.
Supervises community volunteers in kitchen and front of house operations including necessary training in all aspects of proper dinner service operations.
Effectively utilizes volunteers in restaurant operations to reduce operating costs.

- Maintains necessary meal service logs and documentation.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or GED is required.
Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school for cooking or food service (or equivalent industry experiences) preferred.

Demonstrated experience in cooking, nutrition and food safety
Experience working in a restaurant setting
