U.S. Army Reserve Command Motor Vehicle Operator Leader in Bowling Green, Virginia

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the 99th Readiness Division, Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) 88, located at Bowling Green, Virginia. Responsibilities Demonstrate proper dispatching procedures, preventive maintenance checks and services, and document deficiencies. Determine size of truck and trailer required to safely carry the equipment to be moved. Operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment to prevent damage and corrosion of parts. Ensure needed plans, material and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Utilize forklift trucks to load heavy equipment onto trailers. Assign tasks to crew members based on knowledge, skill, and abilities. Answer questions from workers about tasks to be performed. Pass instructions from supervisor onto subordinates. Recognize hazardous conditions while driving to avoid damage or injury. Assure safety and housekeeping rules for operating vehicles and equipment are followed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications This position is being filled under the Direct Hire Authority for DoD Maintenance Activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Motor Vehicle Operator Leader without more than normal supervision. Ability to lead others. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: perform common technical and administrative leader duties. I am skilled in prioritizing workload, using equipment and materials for specific work; answering questions and providing assistance; applying safety and housekeeping rules in the work area; operate motor vehicles; issuing, receiving and accounting for equipment. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the worker to stand, stoop, bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls when driving, turning, stopping and starting the forklifts and motor vehicles and in raising, lowering and tilting the forklift loads. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, material and equipment weighing up to 40 Pounds. Working Conditions: Subject to working out-of-doors during periods of inclement weather. Exposed to serious injuries while operating vehicles over public roads and on the installation. Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt, battery acids, etc., resulting in bruises, cuts, burns, and skin irritation. Wearing of hearing protection and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous conditions. As a team leader, you must comply with the Army Civilian Education System (CES) course and timeline requirements.
