Coordinator for Residential Engagement Bowling Green State University Salary: Depends on Qualifications Job Type: Full-Time Division: VP Student Engagement Success Opening Date: 01/14/2025 Location: Main Campus (BG), OH Job Number: BGSU00656 Department: VP Student Engagement Success Closing: Continuous Summary The Coordinator for Residential Engagement is responsible for planning and executing residence hall events, coordinating with staff, and advising on student programming boards to enhance residential engagement. It includes managing space reservations in and around the residence halls and representing Residence Life on university-wide committees and signature programs. The position also requires participation in official functions and committees at various levels. Providing support to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and handling additional tasks as assigned are integral parts of the role. Overall, the focus is on fostering community, supporting student engagement, and managing logistical and programmatic aspects of Residence Life activities. Essential Functions • Assist in the planning and implementation of University-wide special programs and events in the residence halls. (i.e. Fall Welcome, Homecoming Falcon Family Weekend) • Develop, plan and execute Residence Hall events, in coordination with the Hall Director and the Resident Advisor Staffs. • Advise residence life programming board in efforts to engage residential students. • Oversee Residence Life Space reservations. Both inside the residence halls and outdoor space around the residence halls. • Represents Residence Life on University-wide committees such as Homecoming, and advises several signature programs. • Participate and represent the University, Division, and department on committees and at official functions. • Provide assistance and support to the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and complete other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications The following Degree is required: • Bachelor's degree required. Degree must be conferred at the time of application. The following Experience is required: • 1 year of experience working in a housing or residence life operation • 1 year advising students Additional Information Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Knowledge of college student development theory • Experience in developing and facilitating workshops, and in leadership and service learning • Knowledge of residence hall operations and front desk operations • Experience with undergraduate staff supervision • Experience planning, developing, managing and reconciling budgets • Prior work with crisis management and student conduct • Excellent interpersonal and written communication and administrative skills and a demonstrated desire to work with diverse individuals and groups • Experience with recruitment, training, and selection of staff • Experience with student organization advising • Knowledge of academic, leadership, or diversity programming, theory, and trends • Ability to work on several projects concurrently • Basic computer skills, budget management skills, and creative problem solving Required Documents to Upload to Application: Cover Letter and Resume Deadline to apply: The search committee will review applications until the position is filled; however, for best consideration, applications should be provided by January 29, 2025.
