Summary

 

Assist the head coach in all phases of the specified sport program including, but not limited to, recruiting qualified student-athletes, organization and design of practice and competition, on-deck coaching, scheduling, team managements, travel arrangements, budget management, supervision of academic progress, alumni development, fundraising and any other duties as assigned, and compliance with University, Conference, and NCAA rules.

 

Essential Functions

 

• Assist in coaching the sport; utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student athletes' skills and teamwork

• Assist the head coach in planning, organizing and implementing practice and training procedures for the development and improvement of individual and team performances for optimum success in the MAC and NCAA Division I. Includes on-deck coaching.

• Successfully identity, select and recruit prospective student-athletes who display the athletic and academic talents and ability to successfully compete in the MAC and BGSU.

• Display knowledge and adhere to all rules and regulations, pertaining to the sport as established by the NCAA, MAC, and the University.

• Complete and report in a timely fashion, all Department, University, and Conference administrative information, as well as academic, recruiting, compliance and financial information.

• Assist in the development and implementation of swimming camps, clinics and fundraising activities.

• Attend required department meetings.

• Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

The following Degree is required:

 

• Bachelor's degree is required. Degree must be conferred at time of application

 

The following Experience is required:

• 6 months of College Swimming Coaching at the Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior College or High School level and/or club swimming coaching experience

• 1 year of graduate assistantship experience equals 6 months of professional experience

 

The following Certification is required: (Current certifications should be documented on your resume/application or uploaded as additional documents)

• Pass the NCAA recruiting test annually required.

• Have CPR, First-Aid, Lifeguarding certifications (or ability to obtain within the first 60 days).

• USA Swimming certifications (or willingness to obtain).

• Insurable to drive a vehicle for the University
