Job summaryThe Advertising Audiences team is looking for an experienced software engineerto join our team. You will build large scale, high availability softwaresystems that are mission-critical for the Amazon Ad stack. We recognizethe benefits of a more flexible work environment and offer a mostly remoteschedule with occasional workshops and meetups in the office.Key job responsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, deploy, deliver, and maintain large-scale,highly distributed systems that are core to Amazon's Advertising stack.Use Java/Python, object-oriented design patterns, and modern AWStechnologies (Lambda, ECS/batch, CloudFormation, SQS/SNS, etc.).Gather and analyze business and functional requirements, and translatebusiness requirements into technical design specifications.Serve as a key technical resource in the full development cycle.Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation.Recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards.Work in an agile development environment, where you are always working onthe most important stuff.Hire, coach, and mentor new team members.Work environment: The positionis based in sunny Boulder, CO with easy access to the mountains. To help match ads to the right users, theAdvertising Audiences team curates so-called "audiences", which grouppeople with similar interests, lifestyle, demographics, or purchaseintentions. Our services ingest billions of behavioral signals every day,apply machine learning and statistical models to package these signals intoaudiences, and decorate them for every ad request received within a fractionof a second. This allows ad campaigns to run more effectively and to adjustthe messaging for different customer groups.1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture(architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new andcurrent systems.2+ years of non-internship professional software development experienceProgramming experience with at least one software programming language.Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent workexperience.Solid foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, datastructures, operating systems, programming languages and distributed systems.Experience with modern software development practices.Master's degree in computer science, Math or Physics or related field.Familiarity with AWS or other cloud technologies.Experience owning all stages of development process: design, testing,implementation, operational support.Experience with building high-performance, highly-available and scalabledistributed systems.Ability to dive deep, experiment rapidly, and get things done.The pay range for this position in Colorado is $143,700 - $194,400(per year); however, base pay offered may vary depending onjob-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus andrestricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package,in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or otherbenefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is providedper the Colorado Equal Pay Act. Base pay information is based on marketlocation.
