Job Summary

Applications are invited to fill a professional research assistant position to assist in a multi-disciplinary translational project aimed at reversing osteoarthritis through a multimodal biomaterial therapeutic approach. This team project is led by Prof. Stephanie J. Bryant in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, the Materials Science and Engineering Program, and the BioFrontiers Institute.

Who We Are

The Biomaterials and Functional Tissue Engineering laboratory led by Prof. Bryant develops novel biomimetic and biodegradable materials for regenerative medicine with the goal of translating these technologies into humans. A large focus of this lab is on musculoskeletal tissues (e.g., cartilage and bone) with an emphasis on the role of mechanobiology of stem cells and the immune system in regeneration.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Conduct research under the supervision of the principle investigator.

  • Perform cell culture, biochemical/molecular biology assays, and histology/immunohistochemistry assays.

  • Participate in project meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with team members.

Due to the need to fill this position immediately, applicants should be a U.S. citizen or permanent residence; International applicants are welcomed but should already be in the U.S.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary for this full-time position is $40,000-$70,000; salary will be commensurate with prior experience.

What We Require

  • Applicants should have at a minimum a bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering or related field.

  • Research experience in a laboratory at a university or in Industry.

  • Experience in cell culture, histology/immunohistochemistry processing, and various biochemical and molecular biology assays (e.g., ELISAs, etc.)
