Starting rate of $20.00 - $21.00 per hour, additional consideration based on years of experience. A differential is provided for flexibility associated with scheduling. ** This pay range includes $5/hr. night shift differential.

POSITION SUMMARY Performs duties and tasks that assist the RN and promote effective departmental functioning. Direct patient care functions are under the direction of the RN. Ages of patient served include neonate, child, adolescents, adults and older adult. Interacts in a respectful manner, considerate of age and physical abilities, and provides assistance to individuals in a manner that takes into account their special needs or age related needs. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education or Formal Training High School diploma or equivalent preferred Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.) 1. Effective 4/1/15 CNA certification or equivalent certification is preferred. Equivalent certifications include: EMT, MA, Military Medic or completion of 1st year of nursing core classes (not prerequisites for nursing school). 2. BLS required by end of conditional period. Experience Hospital or other health care experience preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities A. Indirect Patient Care Accountabilities: 1. Transcribes and transmits physician’s orders to appropriate areas and personnel. 2. Orders designated supplies and equipment; receives and places items in proper storage area as needed. 3. Answers telephone; takes messages and directs messages accordingly. 4. Compiles new charts, maintains current charts and enters patient information on charts. 5. Assists families and visitors as needed. B. Direct Patient Care Accountabilities:
Collaborates with RN regarding patient care needs, issues and concerns. Communicates problems to the primary nurse or clinical coordinator promptly. Asks questions to clarify misunderstandings. Requests assistance as needed.
Carries out patient care responsibilities as delegated by RN including, but not limited to, taking and recording vital signs, diaper changes, weights, transport of patients, answering call lights, passing/collecting meal trays, emptying catheters, measuring and recording intakes/outputs, newborn screens, etc.
Performs point of care lab testing.
Working environment/Physical Activities 1. Physical working environment may include, but is not limited tom, any of the following hazards: chemical, electrical, mechanical, biowaste, radiation, etc. 2. Environmental conditions may include, but are not limited to variations temperature, noise, odors, etc. 3. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat, and sit. 4. The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 lbs. Frequently, support/push/pull/and/or lift up to 30 lbs. and occasionally support/push/pull or transfer up to 50 lbs. (i.e. moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed). 5. Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job; speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
