Boulder Community Hospital Medical Assistant - CU Sports Medicine in Boulder, Colorado

Full Time, Days.

Pay range is between $16-$22.58/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience.

The Medical Assistant is responsible for the smooth operation of physicians clinics within CUSMPC. Clinic duties include, but are not limited to greeting patients, providing information, reporting significant history, securing physician-ordered intervention, preparing patients for injections, casting and cast removal, brace fits and fitting of splints, and coordination of patients through the system. The Medical Assistant works with clinic physicians for efficiency and triage for diagnostic imaging when needed.


Education or Formal Training

  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program, or

  • Colorado LPN license in good standing, or

  • Colorado RN license in good standing, or

  • Pass a national Medical Assistant Ceritfication exam.

    Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

    BLS certification required by the end of conditional period.

    MA or medical back office experience preferred.

    Working environment/Physical Activities

  • Requires eight hours of sitting and/or standing and walking. May require excessive walking (greater than 50%).

  • Must be able to tolerate noise and multiple interruptions.

  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and assist patient in clinical setting.

  • Visual and hearing acuity to assure safety of self and others in these areas.

  • Must have ability to assist patients.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistent and on time attendance is an essential function of the position.

  • Directs patients to appropriate treatment room, performs appropriate patient intake depending on the patient’s practitioner.

  • Provides patient teaching when appropriate.

  • Assists physicians and PT staff with patient treatment as appropriate, within scope of their practice.

  • Assist with implementation of physicians orders (i.e., schedule x-rays, prep for injections, removal of sutures, taking of vital signs, etc.)

  • Orders and maintains medical supplies.

  • Prepares and maintains clinic patient care areas and utility areas for safe use. Patient care areas include: examination rooms and cast room. Utility rooms include: whirlpool room, supply areas, lab, and refrigerators.

  • Maintains records as needed.
