Job Description

Job Summary

As the Materials Planner, your primary responsibility will be to plan, schedule, and manage the efficient production for your assigned manufacturing area. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and control systems related to production and inventory. Ensure materials are ordered and in stock while maintaining acceptable inventory levels. Efficiently implement material change orders with purchasing,

production, and engineering.

Duties & Responsibilities (List 5-7 essential functions for the role, focusing on broader responsibilities)

• Sets priorities independently to support manufacturing operations through activities such as planning to maintain adequate inventories, monitoring work in progress, management of finished goods inventories, and varied assistance to manufacturing and field service.

• Responsible for problem solving and resolution involving manufacturing process control,

forecasting, scheduling conflicts/disruptions, raw material quality/shortages, finished goods stocking levels, delivery performance, obsolescence management, and similar systemic and special case problems.

• Leads continuous improvement projects in assigned production areas, while working

independently with limited supervision.

• Uses materials requirements planning (MRP) system to maintain proper supply/ demand

alignment by expediting, delaying, or canceling purchase orders directly with suppliers.

• Reports and improves key performance indicators for planning and manufacturing operations.

• Responsible for appropriate documentation and maintaining information in appropriate

systems.

• New product introduction, change orders, and life cycle management planning support.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (List out required and preferred skills as applicable)

• Uses advanced analytical/technical problem solving to develop new solutions to existing

problems/procedures

• Ability to analyze, interpret, and manipulate spreadsheet or large datasets

• Experience with ERP systems and ERP planning modules, such as SAP/MRP

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills

• Strong regard for product quality and safety standards

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related major (or High School diploma with at least 8 years of planning or related supply chain work experience)

• At least 5 years or more of planning or relevant supply chain work experience

Preferred:

• ASCM CPIM - Certified in production and inventory planning

• Working Conditions

• Less than 5% travel

  • Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $78,000 - $96,000 annually
