Northrop Grumman seeks a talented professional to join the engineering team in Boulder, Colorado as Functional Manager Level 1 managing a team of Engineering Program Leaders. This position is responsible for functional management responsibilities such as conducting performance reviews, merit reviews, all phases of the staffing process, performance evaluations, mentoring, coaching, employee development and other functional management activities as assigned.

This is a dual role encompassing both functional management and technical performance within a program. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to motivate team members and facilitate team meetings; build relationships with customers and staff. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement are a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading Engineering teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years relevant work experience

  • Demonstrated leadership skills as a team lead or direct manager of people

  • Experience managing project execution

  • Effective communication and presentation skills

  • The ability to successfully prioritize tasks and obligations

  • Independent problem solving of complex technical and personnel problems

  • Experience working with both internal and external customers and partners

  • DoD Secret clearance with the ability to get a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous functional management experience

  • Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate with positive outcome

  • Experience with DoD programs and processes

  • Experience in engineering development lifecycle

  • Project scheduling and budget experience (e.g. CAM).

  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance or higher

Salary Range: $126,600 - $189,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
