Summary The ideal candidate for this position has experience coordinating, planning, and delivering training classes/exercises designed to improve disaster operational readiness, has experience tracking or analyzing data, and has strong oral and written communication skills. Responsibilities What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Training Specialist in Region 10's National Preparedness Division coordinating and delivering regional preparedness program training and exercises. Typical assignments include: Serving as an instructor and/or facilitator for various course deliveries to a wide variety of FEMA and community audiences. Leading and facilitating working groups that promote and enhance national preparedness initiatives. Participating in the evaluation of regional program effectiveness and providing recommendations regarding efficiency issues and evaluation of major administrative aspects of substantive, mission-oriented programs. Compiling, reconciling, cross-checking, and interpreting data from a variety of sources with different reporting requirements and formats. What else do I need to know? At the GS-11: To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Obtaining, tracking, analyzing, or disseminating data; and, Coordinating and delivering preparedness training courses or exercises; and, Evaluating program plans for compliance with established emergency management directives, regulations, policies, laws, standards, guidance, etc. OR Education Substitution: Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree in a related field or LL.M., if related. OR Combination of Education and Experience. At the GS-12: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
