State of Massachusetts Summer Intern - Child Support - Policy & Procedures in Boston, Massachusetts

Our vision is to conduct our operations in a manner that inspires public confidence in government by administering and enforcing tax, child support and municipal finance laws in ways that are innovative, customer-focused, and transparent * * Bureau/Division Overview The mission of the Department of Revenue’s Child Support Enforcement division is to protect the economic well-being of the Commonwealth’s children by enforcing the financial responsibilities of parenthood. Effective child support enforcement is an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families’ economic self-sufficiency. Position Summary This internship will be with the Office of the Chief Legal Counsel (OCLC) / Policy and Procedures Unit in the Child Support Enforcement Division of the Department of Revenue. * * Core Responsibilities The intern will work with an attorney in the OCLC on special projects, which may include the following: · Reviewing and updating documents, such as agency policies, forms and brochures · Working on child support cases using DOR’s computerized child support system · Creating a legal memorandum library · Responding to customer inquiries and public records requests · Conducting non-legal research * * Preferred Qualifications · Strong writing skills · Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently · Interest in public sector work/delivery of government services · Understanding and support for the mission of CSE to ensure all children receive the financial support of their parents · Strong communication skills, especially with diverse groups of people /As part of the Future of Work Initiative, the agency is adopting a hybrid work model. Hybrid work is a mix of in-office work and telework.
