Landscaping by J. Michael Sports Turf Technician Foreman in Boston, Massachusetts
NorthEast Sportsfield-Rec is seeking a Sports Turf Technician to build both natural and synthetic fields, layout, install dugouts, pitching mounds, bases, batting tunnels, drainage/catch basins, fencing and other items such as playground equipment, irrigation installation and track surfacing a plus. Oversee all construction and maintenance aspects for the project. He/she will be responsible for the following specifications, ordering and scheduling of materials and subcontractors for both private and municipal projects in the Massachusetts and surrounding states.
Hours of operation are typically Monday-Friday. Weekends may be required because of weather days or scheduling deadlines.
Duties include, but are not limited to,
Plan the work schedule for the day and weeks ahead.
Work and provide instructions to a staff of 3 to 4 crew members.
Ensure work is being followed per specifications.
Check and track crew hours, fill out daily job reports and responsible for all Safety Requirements.
Coordinate with Owners or General Contractors.
Attend or conduct weekly job meetings in absence of the project manager.
Conduct weekly Safety meetings with crew.
Communication with clients on a weekly basis regarding the condition of the fields as well as any maintenance work that is scheduled
Other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
High school diploma minimum. Junior or 4 year college degree preferred.
Turfgrass Management or related degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
3 years of experience in sports field installation or golf turf is required.
Ability to read plans and specifications
Working knowledge of laser equipment and machinery
Special Requirements
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required.
Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required.
Hoisting License preferred.
CDL Class A or Class B preferred.
DOT Medical card required.
OSHA 10 required or can obtain within 30 days of hire
Must be willing to travel and stay overnight up to 4 days at a time. (Company paid)
